Patience, shrink of shrinks, is convinced she has the means of performing the oracle. She dislikes what we humans call failure, recorded by distortion. In order to self-motivate I have decided to chronicle ongoing events in a diary which will be more about contemporaneous comment and awry observations on current affairs and miscellaneous memories than a recording of reality on a mundane basis.
I have no idea of what will emerge but as long as it as cynical as hell and reflects my less than perfect perception of matters which matter and don’t matter, so what. For purposes of prudence this diary will be retrospective.

Would that the words of Brendan Kennelly might be my epitaph:

“They gather together to pool their weaknesses,
Persuade themselves that they are strong.
There is no strength like the strength of one
Who will not belong”.

December 20th 2015

Time for action with these shysters! After doing a serious amount of homework and putting my layman’s perspective on problems to the immediate boss I decided that justice, fair play or a decent hearing was unlikely. With heavy heart and millions of mice and rats celebrating I eventually left the Company in October 2006 because my situation had become ‘untenable’. It would take a novel to describe the chain of events surrounding this entire debacle but after consideration I brought my case to the Employment Appeals Tribunal which august body of impartial adjudicators found in my favour and awarded the Prodigal the not inconsiderable compensation of €25,000. Step one.
My boss and her boss were threatened with dismissal from this very prestigious company because of their failure to maintain company standards and ethics. Company ethics my arse! The consequence was that the two defendants appealed the rightful and righteous ruling of the Employment Appeals Tribunal to the Circuit Court in a vainglorious attempt to hold on to their respective positions. In the meantime they bought time for more intimate oversight of the company’s business. It was a very long wait on the list and the appeal was eventually heard in February 2011. Imagine that; I could have been dead but I wouldn’t please the bastards.
Predictably, I recruited the firm of Tormey & Co. to represent as at that time they were easily the most competent firm of solicitors I had ever encountered and still had the remaining traces of a customer conscience. Next step, “Here’s Lucy”. Lucy Boyle was the best looking solicitor I ever saw and remarkably was first class at her profession. That was the team, Lucy and the Prodigal and we played a blinder. We had a very articulate Junior Council who did the business and we got the result.
During negotiations of settlement the Prodigal was put under severe pressure to settle. No fucking way!  When the defendants reached a settlement figure that exceeded the original figure of the Employment Appeals Tribunal the Company Principal in Tormey’s put me under enormous pressure to settle as his fees were guaranteed. No way! I had come thus far and come hell or high water I was determined to go the full mile, win, lose or draw and thus we proceeded.
The description of the case was well chronicled by the local and national press and the description of same is chronicled hereunder. Reporter, chief current affairs editor, Westmeath Independent.
